(San Francisco, CA) - Virtuoso soul singer/songwriter Zachary Ross, backed by a full band, will be debuting his latest CD, Take Me, in a benefit concert for Ocean Shore School on Saturday, November 8 at the Palace of Fine Arts Theatre in San Francisco.

Produced by Jon Evans, a Bay Area staple and long time collaborator with the likes of Tori Amos, Ross’ third record as a solo artist demonstrates his long-cultivated talent while also showing his versatility as a musician. Ross explains, “In some ways Take Me is a continuation and in others a divergence from my method of melding soul music with folksy songwriter-isms replete in my first two studio outings. On Take Me I felt those soul music roots, those learned in the dingy, honkytonks-turned-bluesrooms of Kansas City, tugging at me in an instinctual way but also had a vision to
expand into more inventive territory where a mere love song could blossom into an epic soundscape. Yes, there’s still a bedroom vibe at times. But also a wide-screen, panoramic vista across a visceral horizon filled with romantic imagery of all kinds.”

Why is it called a soundtrack? Zachary says the question comes up often. The CD packaging describes Take Me as a potential “soundtrack” to the listener’s own movie. Be it a romantic comedy, a thriller, a heady independent drama, Ross is banking on this music making it into the hearts and minds of his listeners. It’s also a pitch for TV and film music reps. Ross says that the changing landscape of the music business has gotten him interested in licensing his compositions as well as scoring for films and has already begun collaborations with several producers.

With radio successes from his two previous releases, “On My Side” and "For the Love I'm Forgetting", Zachary's touring saw a host of a sold out shows and included performances with Chaka Khan, Blues Traveler, Aimee Mann, and Sugar Ray among others. Zachary has also been joined on stage by members of Tower of Power, Ray Charles’ band and the amazing Grammywinning Tony Lindsay, lead vocalist with Santana.

Ocean Shore School in Pacifica, CA forms a working partnership between teachers and parents to enrich the educational experience of their children. Thanks to the time and energy contributed by parents, the program is able to provide small group instruction, frequent field trips, special projects, and hands-on learning. Cross-grade interaction is also a hallmark of this program. As part of the Pacifica School District, Ocean Shore School operates on one of the least funded budgets in San Mateo County, yet manages to meet the high academic standards of California’s Department of Education. The funds raised from this benefit concert will help support the extra costs of field trips,
small group work and supplies for the school’s experiential learning programs.
